The Challenge

We're looking for an entry-level Engineering Technician to join our Winston-Salem Construction Engineering team.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Assist engineers and senior technicians in the implementation and administration of roadway and structure construction projects awarded to private contractors.
  • Help on minor to complex engineering projects.
  • Conduct inspections on every phase of construction projects to ensure they are built according to plan and specifications in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Conduct routine inspections for compliance with contract agreements, standard, codes, permits, and specifications.
  • Perform calculations, computations, and perform computer/iPad data entry.

What You Bring

  • Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
  • Experience maintaining standard daily records and reports.
  • Knowledge of standards and specifications and plan reading experience.
  • Computer skills using laptops, iPads, and drafting software.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction inspections, or construction surveying.
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
  • Safety toe shoes.

Education & Experience

  • Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum; or
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
